The search box by default has the value "Search This Site". When you click into the field you would expect for this default value text to automatically disappear, it does not.. You have to delete it manually and enter the search string.
It would be extremely helpful if this default value was cleared when the user placed focus on the search box.

Yeah, that's something I've been meaning to update before now. I've attached a new version of search_theme_form.tpl.php to this post, just overwrite the old one, should do the trick.
