Hey Doug,
Sounds like a path issue - the RSS icon would be located in 'salted/images/feed-icon.png'
Might have to edit page.tpl.php on line 241 -
You'll see that it's looking in sites/all/themes, so if you're running a multisite setup or something that could be the issue and you'll need to edit the line to reflect the correct path.
