I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean by clone or edit. The slides are created when you create an new article and tag it to appear in the carousel. The slides that were already setup by the easy installer are being pulled from the corresponding articles, so changing those slides would involve editing the articles and uploading your own images during edit. If the pictures are out of focus, you may be using photos that are smaller than the carousel region, which results in them being upscaled (creates a pixelly effect). For the carousel image, you'd want the image you're starting with to have a minimum width of at least 960px.
