I'm having a problem with CTools 6.x-1.2 when using this theme. The forum page looses all the CSS formatting when I enable this module.

The same thing also happens when I open a forum topic when I'm using Advanced Forum 1.1. This is happenning in all the Advanced Forum styles.

I can't seem to reproduce this, but maybe I'm missing something - I've never used CTools prior to this. What sort of styling issues is creating on the forum pages? It's just affecting the forum itself, or the display of the entire layout?

Thanks for the response Rob.

I'm so sorry for the work you had to do to troubleshoot this. Author Pane is actually the module I'm having a problem with. It is affecting the display of some random nodes, including all forum topics. This is only happening when a user is logged in, and only when using IE. I'm currently using IE 8 and the problem is happening on this browser.

I have Author Pane installed since it is required by Advanced Forums that I am using for my forums. BTW, the forum theme that I am using looks very similar to yours. The Author Pane module affects all themes contained in the Advanced Forum package. If I uninstall it together with the Advanced Forums and just use the default Drupal forum module, then everything works fine.

Hey James,

I still can't reproduce the effect, even in IE8. I see a few styling differences as far as backgrounds and colors go, but nothing that's breaking any layouts. I'm now wondering if this is due to the limit IE has on the number of stylesheets that can be imported. Have you tried optimizing the CSS under the Administer > Site Configuration > Performance options?

Would I be able to take a look at your actual site?

Hi Rob D.

I just wanted to thank you for this post!

I'm not using one of your themes, but was hunting for a fix for one of my own that had a weird IE CSS problem that kept cropping up for months now.

Everything was working fine on my site in Firefox, Chrome and Safari but Internet Explorer kept messing up in weird ways (block backgrounds extended all the way to the left of the browser window, corners and tab formatting all messed up). Even worse, most of the page would disappear if you hovered over the main menu tabs at the top of the page. But this only happened on some pages.

I'd dug into every little detail and potential conflict in CSS, javascript, jquery, etc and your post reminded me of something I'd read before about IE having a limit on the number of stylesheets that can be imported. After a minute's thought it all made sense so I configured Drupal to collapse the files into a single CSS file as you suggested and bingo - no more IE problem.\

Thanks for the help! Such relief to have this fixed!

Kind of funny - thanks to your post, it reminded me of the IE problem and helped me solve something today that probably would have taken me longer to figure out otherwise.

Also, that limitation still exists in IE9! I wonder what the point of it is.

Great - glad to return the favour!

I'd save so much time if I didn't have to go back and rework sites that I thought were finished to make them work IE!
