How can I change the appearance of the article teasers on the front page?

Currently each teaser shows up like this:

Title
********* Teaser text
* Image * Teaser text
********* Teaser text
*********
*********
Links (read more, add comment, etc.)

I want the teaser to show up like this instead:

********* Title
* Image * Teaser text
********* Teaser text
*********
********* Links (read more, add comment, etc.)

How can I do this? Do I have to use views, and if so, how do I replace the article teasers with a view instead.
